Chennai Super Kings vs Pune Warriors India Highlights: Chennai beat Pune by 13 runs

  • The CSK team beat the PWI by 13 runs. The Pune Warriors won the toss and put Chennai to bat first. Chennai seemed to follow the same strategy they adopted in the last year i.e. Maintaining the wickets and beginning the onslaught at the last overs. Openers Badrinath and du Plessis scored half centuries each. The sloppy fielding of Pune is also to be blamed as a few catches and a stumping of Badrinath is missed. One remarkable incident is whens the PWI captain, Saurav Ganguly who bravely decided to continue the fielding inspite of injuring himself hard. Just a mark of his fighting nature. Dhoni meanwhile made a quickfire unbeaten 28. In this short innings he played the famous helicopter shots as well. The last over bowled by Marlon Samuels bowled produced 18 runs and at the end it made a huge difference.

    Chasing a target of 163 runs, the Pune team looked under pressure and wickets fell at regular intervals. Ganguly showed a glimpse of his form but the pressure to accelerate the run rate has taken a toll on him as well. Yet again he got out in 20s. Five wickets were down and Mathews and Samuels tried to build the innings. In the last 3 overs 35 runs were required.
